Overview

COAE process audit is an examination of results to determine whether the activities, resources and behaviours that cause them are being managed efficiently and effectively. All business sectors benefit from the process audits. This audit by COAE process experts is not simply following a trail through a department from input to output – It’s a transaction audit which establishes whether the results are being generated by an effectively managed process.

These audits look at specific processes, activities or functions performed by an organization. The auditor compares the actual process with the documented requirements of the process and the best industry practices.

An audit provides trusts with an excellent method of benchmarking successes, as well as identifying areas for improvement over the course of the year. This provides invaluable hard data to the employees, helping to learn from mistakes and encourage different perspectives to improve on key focuses.

COAE generally conducts process audits once a year, but it is worthwhile considering scheduling regular internal audits. With consistent and objective internal scrutiny, various teams can clearly demonstrate stringent process controls. They will not have to scramble for information at the last minute before COAE audit.

Process

01
Define your organization’s standards of excellence and present a clear vision for organizational focus
02
Determine what you will use to measure process excellence in your business sector. Establish key performance indicators and determine the tools that you will need to measure them.
03
Apply to COAE International for scheduling the process audits.
04
COAE creates an audit plan that revolves around best-in-class standards and that considers a multi-dimensional approach.
05
An example that shows how COAE adopts a different approach:- “In an educational institution, a common approach to an education process audit is to simply monitor the teachers in a classroom setting to determine the quality of teaching the students are exposed to. This approach will not provide you with a full picture of the educational system currently in place. Instead, COAE experts analyze the design of the curriculum, looking for innovative teaching pedagogies, and education practices that are current and up-to-date with the latest available research and that caters to the industry needs”
06
Instead of taking just the monitoring stance approach, use the audit as a way for you to foster collaboration with the staff and motivate them to achieve the organization’s standards of excellence.
07
Start a discussion with the audit report as the foundation. The audit report is a foundation to which the organization can start a discussion with the employees on where improvements could be made. Feedback should be given and received and work with the teams to achieve the shared goal of process excellence.
08
Develop a plan for continuous improvement While immediate improvements likely need to be made, the focus should not just be on the short term improvements. A solid plan of action should be created and include periodic reviews for monitoring & measuring the performance and improvements.
